How to slow cook your honey mustard ham
You know I love a slow cooker

This has got to be one of the most simple recipes I’ve ever made, and it’s perfect for the festive season. This is my slow cooker honey mustard ham, and it doesn’t need any boiling or faff, just whacking it all in the slow cooker and leaving for a few hours! It’s super juicy, perfect for your Christmas lunch, Boxing Day buffet or for your packed lunch sandwiches through the rest of the year.
The Gammon

In my new book (the Actually Delicious Slow Cooker Cookbook, available on Amazon now) you can find the whole recipe, but here’s a quick version for you!
- 1.8kg/4lbs smoked horseshoe gammon, netting removed
- 4 tbsp runny honey
- 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
Place the ham into the bowl of your slow cooker, rind side up. For this recipe you don’t need to boil the ham, or even score it! Just make sure to take the netting off, as it’s easier to do this now rather than later.
In a separate bowl mix together the runny honey, wholegrain mustard and light soy sauce. Tip this all over the ham and make sure it is completely smothered before popping on the lid. Cook on low for 5 hours, then get your air fryer ready.
Roasting

You’ve got a few options for the next step of this recipe. In my book, I place the ham into the oven, either directly in the slow cooker bowl (if it’s ceramic) or on a baking tray lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup. When I was filming the ham recipe for my Youtube video I decided to get out my other favourite gadget, the air fryer.
Transfer the ham to your air fryer basket and roast for 10 minutes at 200ºc/400ºf until golden brown and the glaze turns sticky and tacky. If you’re doing this in the oven, it might take a little bit longer but just keep an eye on it.
Slice and Serve
Would you believe it, that’s actually it for this delicious recipe! My perfect slow cooker honey mustard ham is complete. Personally I like to carve lots of thin slices so it can be part of a grazing table, on the side of a cheeseboard or in a massive Boxing Day sandwich with stuffing, roasted veg and some leftover roast potatoes. Just make sure to brush that remaining glaze over the ham whatever you do with it.b
