Slow cooker cookbook

What’s so great about a slow cooker?

As I’m sure most have seen, I have a new book coming out! BOOK 3 IS FINALLY HERE! I’m so excited to talk about how delicious slow cooker meals can be – none of that pale beef stew that your nan would give you after school. Slow cookers have become my latest obsession, because the food you can make with them is so bloomin’ good. Soups, curries, meats, spuds and even desserts that you can just pop on in the morning before work. Let the slow cooker do all the hard graft for you! I’ve designed this recipe with minimal pre-cooking preparation, because no one wants to fry off meat before work.

Why should I buy one?

Stop shoving your slow cookers to the back of the cupboard as soon as the sun comes out! They’re amazing for those days where it’s too hot to turn the oven on. Slow cookers are also really energy efficient, and it always helps to keep the leccy bill down now we’re in a cozzie lives. One of my FAVOURITE recipes from the Actually Delicious Slow Cooker Cookbook (catchy title, isn’t it? Try saying that after a few voddy redbulls) is a spicy Thai red curry. Now, don’t come for me, it’s not traditional by any means, but it is tasty and warming. Dish up a massive bowl of curry with some coconut rice and plenty of fresh lime wedges to squeeze over the top.

Is it only good for winter dinners?

No! There’s some incredible breakfast and lunch dishes you can make with the humble slow cooker. They might just take a bit of extra organisation than a bowl of cereal. Buffalo chicken for Superbowl potato skins, sausage and pepper breakfast potatoes and Easter lamb just a few of my favourites. Some you can put on overnight or first thing in the morning, which frees up your oven space for the rest of your trimmings. If you’re feeling a little something sweet after dinner, whip up a chocolate lava cake or batch of warm cookie dough for the whole family to dig into.
