Air fryer cartoon burger

print recipe

This is one of those classic burgers that just hits the spot. The crowd-pleaser of the burger world. You’ve got a juicy beef patty, golden onion, tangy pickles and fluorescent yellow cheese. I don’t know about you but sometimes I just want a tacky, manufactured bit of cheese. Don’t judge.

What makes this burger even better is the fact that it’s made in the air fryer. Not only does this save precious time, but you’re left with a mouth watering burger without a hint of dryness.

Serving suggestion

Obvs gotta be a proper burger sauce! Make your own burger sauce by mixing together mayonnaise, ketchup, American mustard, chopped pickles, a dash of Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Could this rival a cheeky big mac sauce? Make it and find out babs x

If you’re fully on the air fryer train, why not try my chips or corn ribs. If you’ve run out of space in the air fryer and fancy whacking on the oven, you absolutely need to make my classic wedges or because I’m having potato withdrawal, I’ll probs serve mine with a truffle potato salad.

This recipe is from my book, Poppy Cooks: The Actually Delicious Air Fryer Cookbook which you’re welcome to buy or you can pinch the odd recipe for free right here!

Method

  1. In a saucepan over a medium heat pour in half of the olive oil and add in the onion. Cook off for 10 minutes until softened and lightly golden in colour. Allow this to cool.
  2. Tip the onions into a bowl with the beef mince, egg, breadcrumbs, parmesan, Worcestershire sauce and plenty of salt and pepper then get your hands in there and give it a good old smush together. Shape into 4 patties and refridgerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Remove the burgers from the fridge to come up to room temperature before you cook them - this helps with shrinkage! Preheat the air fryer to 200ºc/400ºf.
  4. Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the burgers and air fry for 10 minutes until crisp on the edges and cooked through in the middle, and then for a final 2 minutes add on your cheese slices. Stack your buns with the lettuce, tomato and pickles then top with the patties, a dollop of burger sauce and the top bun.
