Apple Pie Wrap

print recipe

If you’re one of those people who open a pack of tortillas, then forget to cover them back up properly (even though the packaging is specifically designed to do that efficiently for you), this is one way to use them up. No more crusty, dry leftover tortillas because we’re making an APPLE PIE WRAP.

This is the perfect Autumnal recipe as it’s warming, gooey, crispy and full of deliciously cinnamon-y apples which smells incredible. Put down your pumpkin spiced latte huns, this is the transitional snack you’ve been waiting for. It’s also the cheap and easy alternative to slaving away over the stove for a proper apple pie. I mean I still love a bit of proper baking but this is the snack you need when you can’t be bothered to whip up homemade pastry.

When you’re making this, it should resemble a McDonalds apple pie in shape. You can watch me chaotically prepare it here. Also like the famous McDonalds treat, it is FEROCIOUSLY HOT on the inside. Legit lava. I genuinely think I did permanent damage when I bit into this straight from out the oven. So, as tempting as it may seen, please give it a good solid 5-10 mins minimum before you took in. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya. Proceed with caution.

Ingredients

  • 3 bramley apples, peeled and chopped

  • Cinnamon stick (if you're feeling fancy)
  • Sprinkling of dried cinnamon
  • Sprinkling of dried cinnamon

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6.
  2. Place your peeled and chopped apple into a pan along with the golden caster sugar, cinnamon stick, dried cinnamon, lemon zest and lemon juice. Cook on medium heat for 10 mins til starting to soften. It should smell AMAZING.
  3. Once softened, drain the apple if it's a little watery. You don't want a soggy wrap.
  4. Then, place some parchment paper on a baking tray and place your tortilla on top.
  5. Next, place the apple mixture down the centre of the wrap and butter the tortilla edges. Fold one side over and fork it to close. Try to close all the gaps so you don't lose too much of that apple goodness. It should almost mimic a McDonald's apple pie in shape.
  6. Brush a thin layer of butter over the tortilla and sprinkle over some extra sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Place your apple pie wrap into the oven for around 20 minutes. It's ready when it's golden, gooey and crispy on the outside. Remember it is absolutely boiling HOT in the centre! Enjoy with caution!
