Crispy Fanned Potatoes

print recipe

A whole pan of crispy fanned potatoes? We have no choice but to stan.

I always knock this up when I need a good sharing dish that won’t cost much and doesn’t require a lengthly recipe list. It uses ingredients that you typically already have at home and it really does the trick. Either enjoy it as it comes or get some cheeky dips on the side. I’m thinking gravy, melted cheese, honey mustard and more. My crispy fanned potatoes are deceptively filling as you’re basically enjoying pure carbs.

This dish is so ridiculously simple but I always love how pretty and impressive it looks. If you make this, please share your photos because this dish is a work of art and such be appreciated. Show me all your spuds x

If you’re looking for the levelled up sharer, my potato camembert wheel will do the job.

Ingredients

metric imperial
  • 6-7 potatoes (maybe more depending on how large your pan is)
  • 6-7 maris piper potatoes (maybe more depending on how large your pan is)
  • 2-3 tbsp butter
  • 2-3 tbsp butter
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • Drizzle of olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Plenty of salt and pepper
  • Plenty of salt and pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C Fan/425°F/Gas Mark 7.
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes, try and keep the slices in order, like keep them as a potato is you get me. It’s just gonna save time when fanning and makes them neater.
  3. Drizzle some oil in an oven proof dish and start fanning out the slices of potatoes until you’ve completely coated the dish.
  4. Crush your garlic with some oil and brush all over the potatoes. Brushing will coat the spuds more evenly.
  5. Season well and bake in the oven for 30 minutes and then baste with butter and return to the oven for a further 20-30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
