Air fryer Yorkshire pudding
An air fryer Yorkshire pudding?
Yep. And perhaps even more surprisingly, it actually works. You get proper crisp edges and a soft, fluffy middle, all without needing to turn the oven on. Winner winner air fryer roast dinner!
Instead of making individual Yorkshire puddings, this version is cooked in one larger dish, which makes things lovely and simple. You mix the batter, pour it into a hot dish, pop it in the air fryer and let it do all the cooking. As it cooks, the batter rises, puffs and crisps around the edges while staying light and airy in the centre.
Once it’s done, you simply lift it out and slice it into portions, almost like a tear-and-share Yorkshire. Yes, you don’t get the traditional round gravy-holding shapes, but what you do get is a beautifully golden, fluffy Yorkshire pudding that’s incredibly easy to make.
It’s especially handy if you’re cooking a smaller roast dinner for two to four people, or if your oven is already full with the meat and potatoes, because you can never have too many roast potatoes.
FAQs
Can I make individual Yorkshire puddings in the air fryer?
Yep! Simply divide the batter into smaller moulds. The cooking time may be slightly shorter, so keep an eye on them as they cook.
Why didn’t my Yorkshire pudding rise?
The most common reason is the dish or oil not being hot enough. Make sure the oil is properly heated in the air fryer before you pour in the batter, we love a sizzle.
Can I make the batter ahead of time?
Yes. Yorkshire pudding batter is usually better when prepared in advance.
Can I reheat leftover Yorkshire pudding?
Pop it back in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes and they’ll crisp up beautifully again. Don’t let them burn though!
