Gochujang glazed cauliflower wings
Almost better than a chicken wing….
I say almost because chicken wings are one of my favourite things to eat in this world (aside from a potato obvs) so being better would be a very bold statement, but this cauliflower take is pretty damn good. It’s actually really damn good.
And just because it’s cauliflower, that doesn’t mean we have to enjoy it in a super healthy and boring way. The best kinds of cauliflower are either deep fat fried or coated in beautiful ooey gooey cheese sauce. Please don’t show it to me in rice format.
Why gochujang?
If like me you discovered gochujang a while back, you probably bought a HUGE tub of it. And if like me you hate waste, you’ve been incorporating it into everything. And that’s not a bad thing.
For those of you who haven’t yet tried it, Gochujang is a Korean red chilli paste that is spice, salty, a little sweet and a lot delicious. It’s found it’s way into many of my dishes including gochujang butter cabbage, chicken salad and even into a marry me udon noodle dish.

How do I make a gochujang compound butter?
If you’ve checked out the ingredients below you’ll see I mention using a compound butter. You can find the full recipe here.
However all you need to do is mix together softened butter, gochujang and honey with a pinch of salt and pepper. You can leave this in a bowl, or form it into a sausage and roll in cling film for ease. Pop into the fridge until you’re ready to cook, this butter will last in the fridge for 2-3 weeks! It’s a great way of adding additional flavour to dishes and there are so many more compound butter recipes to try out.
Can I air fry instead?
Yes absolutely! Although my recipe calls for deep fat frying, you can air fry for 15 minutes at 200ºc/400ºf. Just make sure you spray well with oil first! I have plenty more air fryer recipes on my website and a Sunday Times bestseller, Poppy Cooks: The Actually Delicious Air Fryer book for more inspo.
Can I mix up the glaze?
Again, yes you absolutely can. Well I feel like a need an extra portion of veggies but have run out of gochujang, then I typically switch it up with either a BBQ sauce glaze or a lemon pepper butter as I usually have all of these ingredients already stocked at home.
What can I serve with my Gochujang glazed cauliflower wings?
If you want more of a meal and less of a snack, these work really well with stir fried noodles and veg, or fries for a fakeaway feel. You could even enjoy them in a wrap. I personally like them as a movie night snack alongside lots of other picky bowls.
