Air fryer maple carrots
Maple and carrots. Match made in heaven
Maple and carrots. Honestly, it’s one of those flavour combinations that just makes sense the moment you try it. Carrots naturally have a lovely sweetness to them already, and when you add maple syrup into the mix it takes things to a whole new level. You get that caramelised, slightly sticky glaze coating beautifully roasted carrots, with just enough savoury balance to stop it feeling overly sweet. Although I wouldn’t mind that haha.
The beauty of this recipe is not just its taste but how ridiculously easy it is to pull off. The air fryer does all the heavy lifting, giving you perfectly roasted carrots with those golden, crispy edges and a soft, tender inside in a fraction of the time it takes in a regular oven. And let’s not even get started on the maple glaze. It’s sticky, buttery and has just the right balance of sweetness to make these carrots utterly irresistible. Which we obvs love.
It’s the kind of side dish that feels a bit special but requires minimal effort, which is always a win. Whether you’re serving these up alongside a roast dinner, adding them to a weeknight traybake situation, or just looking for a way to make vegetables a bit more exciting, these carrots absolutely deliver. They’re also brilliant for convincing people that vegetables don’t have to be boring because once those edges start caramelising, they’re pretty hard to resist.
What is the glaze?
The glaze couldn’t be simpler. It’s a quick mix of maple syrup, melted butter, a little oil, salt and pepper, that’s literally it.
The key thing here is when you add the glaze. You want to cook the carrots most of the way first, then toss them in the maple mixture for the final 10 minutes of cooking. This allows the glaze to bubble and caramelise around the carrots without burning, giving you that gorgeous sticky coating rather than something bitter or overly dark.
A Sunday roast entirely in the air fryer?!
